On My Radar with Mary O'Brien:
This week, AI job markets are shifting, venture capital is driving the talent race, and schools are facing a new threat: cyberattacks. Here’s what’s catching my attention and why it matters.
Cyberattacks Hit Schools – The New Snow Days?
In my follow-up to “Back to School with AI,” remote learning isn’t the only reason kids might be missing class. A school district south of Seattle recently canceled classes due to a cyberattack. Like hospitals, schools are now prime targets for ransomware attacks, but unlike hospitals, many can’t afford to pay ransoms or strengthen their defenses. With federal assistance years away, the threat to school systems is only growing. Source: GeekWire.
AI Job Boom: Which Cities Will Dominate Tomorrow? Don’t count on the “Top Cities for Jobs in Artificial Intelligence” lists staying accurate for long. As AI expands across industries like healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, expect new hubs to emerge in cities not traditionally known for tech. Remote work is also shaking up the landscape, making AI jobs accessible from virtually anywhere. Keep an eye on less obvious regions becoming key players in the AI boom. Source: Analytics Insight.
Venture Capital Fuels the AI Talent Race. With massive capital flowing into AI and skyrocketing demand for talent, it's hard to say if today’s AI epicenters will still lead tomorrow. As highlighted in The Wall Street Journal's “The AI Spending Spree, in Charts,” investors are increasingly focused on when their AI investments will pay off. Stay alert for emerging trends that could shift the geographic focus of AI job growth. Source: Wall Street Journal.
