It’s time to meet the future… where we cover each day like a sci-fi blockbuster…

QUANTUM // QUBITS

⚛️ HELLO FUTURE: WHY YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT QUANTUM COMPUTING: “Quantum” sounds like something out of a Marvel movie — until you realize it’s about to reshape medicine, money, and national security.

—> 🧠 THE EXPERT: I sit down with Matt Swayne, senior writer at The Quantum Insider, to translate the weird world of quantum physics into real life — minus the whiteboard full of math.

—> 💥 THE SHIFT: We break down what “quantum supremacy” really means, how governments and tech giants are racing to build the first working systems, and why quantum computers could soon crack encryption, design new drugs, and turbocharge AI.

—> ⚡ WHY IT MATTERS: The quantum era isn’t decades away — it’s already unfolding. Once you understand it, you’ll see the next digital revolution everywhere.

Meanwhile… Two quick quantum qubits (see what I did there…)

  1. Phase One Construction Begins on Chicago Quantum Computing Facility, via Quantum Insider:

Phase one of the project will cover about 30 acres and is expected to be completed in 2027, positioning Illinois as a key hub for quantum and microelectronics development.

  2. Common salt helps create new material for high-speed quantum tech, via Interesting Engineering:

In a significant advancement for materials science, researchers have successfully created niobium sulfide metallic nanotubes with stable, predictable properties for the first time. An international team achieved the long-sought feat using an unexpected ingredient—common table salt. According to researchers, the discovery could pave the way for faster electronics, efficient superconducting wires, and future quantum technologies.

Pass the salt…

hello, future. it’s me, kev.

…and this is a dispatch from the digital frontier. It’s time to meet the future NOW — with the latest on markets, tech, and freedom. The day is 315. The year is 2025. The planet is Earth.

The planet has complete 86.3 percent of its orbit around the Sun. My name is Kevin Cirilli —> LinkedIn. iHeart | iTunes | Spotify | Amazon | Pandora. Sign-up to receive the future in your inbox here.

🛸 HELLO FUTURE: THE POPE… THE PLANETS… AND ALIENS (PART 2)
The Vatican once put Galileo on trial for saying the Earth revolved around the Sun — now it runs its own space observatory. Times change. Fast.

—> 🧠 THE EXPERT: I’m joined by Dr. Lance Gharavi of Arizona State University — a scholar who studies the intersection of religion, theater, emerging tech, and space exploration — to talk about how faith might evolve in the age of AI, Mars colonies, and maybe… aliens.

—> 🌌 THE CONVERSATION: From the Vatican’s telescopes to Pope Francis famously saying he’d baptize an alien, we look at how the world’s major religions are preparing (or not) for this new cosmic era — a kind of Second Industrial Revolution powered by AI and discovery.

—> 🚀 WHY IT MATTERS: What happens when the institutions that once feared the telescope now point it toward the stars? Faith isn’t fading — it’s expanding. And the next great awakening might just happen off-world.

SPACE

🪐 ASTRONOMERS JUST FOUND THE PLANET THEY’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR — AND IT COULD HAVE LIFE. After 20 years of searching, scientists finally found a rocky “super-Earth” that may be the best place yet to look for signs of alien life — and it’s practically next door.

—> 🌎 THE BASICS: The newly discovered planet, called GJ 251 c, orbits a small red dwarf star about 19 light-years away — close enough that future telescopes could study it in detail. It’s about four times the mass of Earth and sits in the “Goldilocks Zone,” the sweet spot where temperatures could allow liquid water to exist.

—> 🔭 WHY IT MATTERS: This world isn’t just another blip in the data. It’s one of the most promising exoplanets ever found for direct observation — meaning scientists could soon look into its atmosphere for gases like oxygen and methane, which are potential signs of life. The find also proves that decades of patient data collection — from telescopes in Texas, Arizona, and Hawaii — are finally paying off.

—> 🚀 THE BIG PICTURE: GJ 251 c is a rare, nearby target that checks every box for habitability: rocky surface, stable star, and just-right orbit. The next generation of giant telescopes — like NASA’s Habitable Worlds Observatory and Europe’s Extremely Large Telescope — could be the first to actually see this world and test it for life.

—> 🧠 BOTTOM LINE: For scientists, this is more than a discovery — it’s a breakthrough in the decades-long hunt for another Earth. If we ever confirm life beyond our planet, this is exactly the kind of place we’ll find it.
