KEV’S DAILY RANT: If Thomas Edison was around today, the media would say he’s anti-wax and a candle killer…
COMING ATTRACTIONS: Apple likely to launch foldable iPhone in September 2026, predicts JPMorgan, via CNBC.
Speaking of folds…
🧺✨ A ROBOT THAT FOLDS YOUR LAUNDRY — DISGUISED AS A LAMP?! We are screaming. Stanford’s Aaron Tan just dropped a teaser for Lume — a robot disguised as a pair of chic bedside lamps that literally folds your laundry for you. The lamps gently lean in, extend two robot fingers… and boom: your socks, shirts, and sweatpants are perfectly folded by the time your movie ends. The 31-second video already has 3.8 million views — and we get why.
—> YES, IT’S REAL (KIND OF): The viral video is a render — but the prototype is already alive in a San Francisco garage. It’s folding. It works. And it ships in 2026 with a sub-$2,000 price tag. We’re obsessed.
—> HOW IT WORKS: Voice-activated or app-triggered, the lamps stay chill until needed. Then they deploy stealthy robot fingers from under their hoods, scan the laundry with hidden cameras, and get to work folding — no walking, no wandering, no creepy humanoid vibes.
—> WHY THIS IS THE COOLEST THING WE’VE SEEN ALL YEAR:
✔️ No humanoid robot roommate.
✔️ No AI overlord.
✔️ Just beautiful robotic furniture that blends into your home and saves you hours.
Tan calls it “ambient robotics.” We call it a miracle.
—> WHEN CAN I GET ONE? Preorders are already in the five figures, and launch is expected in 2026. Early testers are begging to try it. If you hate folding laundry (and let’s be real, you do), this is your dream robot. Functional, beautiful, and lowkey magical.

🏗️🤖 THE DATA CENTER BOOM IS THE NEXT SPACE RACE. Northern Virginia has quietly become the internet’s launchpad — with over 200+ massive data centers powering two-thirds of global internet traffic. More are coming. Some neighborhoods are being surrounded. Others are cashing in. Either way, this is ground zero for the AI revolution.
—> WAIT, WHAT’S A DATA CENTER? Think of it like a power plant, but for artificial intelligence. Inside: racks of supercomputers, spinning 24/7 to power your apps, videos, games, and AI tools. New AI chips use 10x more power and run so hot they need liquid coolant just to stay online.
—> THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE: When America built gas stations, railroads, and the electric grid, we transformed the country — and the economy. Now, data centers are doing the same. They’re the refineries of the AI era, turning raw energy into intelligence. Just like we needed power lines to bring electricity to homes, we now need data hubs to bring AI to the world.
—> BIG BUSINESS: Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and OpenAI are spending $300+ billion this year to build the next generation of these facilities — some big enough to cover all of Manhattan.
—> WHY THIS MATTERS TO YOU: Every time you use ChatGPT, FaceTime a friend, or scroll your feed, you're tapping into a data center. These AI “factories” are also economic engines — creating 74,000+ jobs and pumping $9.1 billion into Virginia’s GDP every year. From Bloomberg:
For every $1 invested into data centers, Loudoun County says it receives $26 in tax revenue… This fiscal year alone, they’re expected to add $895 million to the county’s coffers, enough to cover most of its estimated $940 million operating budget.
—> TRANSLATION: That money goes to schools, parks, and public safety — all while lowering taxes for residents… oh, and creating jobs… jobs… jobs.
—> WHAT BLOOMBERG, FT + BIZ MEDIA IS GETTING WRONG: They’re stuck on the zoning fights. But this isn’t just a tech story — it’s a middle class jobs story transforming America in real time… Building these centers takes thousands of blue-collar workers: electricians, welders, crane operators, truckers, HVAC crews. In towns like Tucson and Abilene, it’s the biggest job boom in a generation — and it’s just starting.

SPACE
🛰️☄️ WHO SHOULD SAVE EARTH FROM ASTEROIDS — NASA OR SPACE FORCE? NASA has led America’s planetary defense mission for decades — tracking dangerous space rocks and even crashing a spacecraft into one to knock it off course. But with budget cuts looming, the mission to protect Earth from asteroids may be reassigned to the U.S. Space Force, which now has a much bigger war chest and a growing national security role in space.
—> THE SHIFT: Only 44% of large, hazardous near-Earth objects have been identified — even though NASA was told back in 2005 to find 90% by 2020. Some defense experts say it's time for Space Force to take charge of asteroid deflection as part of a broader “Golden Dome” shield, using satellites and AI to stop threats from space.
—> THE DEBATE: Supporters say it’s a natural fit — a global threat deserves a military-grade response. Critics warn it could erode public trust and turn a planetary mission into a geopolitical flashpoint. After all, what happens if a U.S. missile alters the path of an asteroid headed for Earth — but no one agrees on where it will land?
—> WHY IT MATTERS: Whether it's NASA or Space Force holding the joystick, this isn’t science fiction — it’s Earth’s insurance policy. And with missions like NEO Surveyor still in the pipeline, who leads may shape how humanity handles its first real cosmic crisis.

ROBOTS
🤖🚙 RENTAL CARS MEET ROBOTAXIS — WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOUR NEXT RIDE. Waymo, the self-driving car company owned by Google’s parent company, is teaming up with AVIS to launch robotaxis in Dallas next year. Instead of renting you a car, AVIS will now manage fleets of electric autonomous vehicles — charging them, fixing them, and getting them road-ready.
—> WHY THIS MATTERS: Rental car companies are betting big on robotaxis. If it works, it could mean cheaper, faster rides — no driver required — with your local rental lot running the show.
—> FUTURE OF RIDESHARE: From airport pickups to everyday errands, the line between “rental car” and “ride on demand” is about to disappear. Your next Uber might come from AVIS.

ONE MORE THING
🔧 HOW AMERICA BUILDS THE FUTURE — A HISTORY IN INFRASTRUCTURE
1862 — Railroads & Lincoln’s Bold Vision: President Abraham Lincoln signs the Pacific Railway Act, launching the transcontinental railroad. It doesn’t just connect coasts — it rewires the economy and redefines the American frontier.
1935 — FDR & the Rural Electrification Act: As part of the New Deal, President Franklin D. Roosevelt brings electricity to rural America. Millions of homes go from candlelight to lightbulb, unlocking opportunity and modern life for a generation.
1956 — Eisenhower’s Interstate Highways: President Dwight D. Eisenhower pushes through the Federal-Aid Highway Act. In the name of security and commerce, America paves its future — one concrete mile at a time.
2020s — The Data Center Era Begins: Now, we’re building again. This time, the steel isn’t rail, and the wires don’t just carry electricity — they carry intelligence. Hyperscale data centers are today’s refineries: transforming raw power into AI, machine learning, and the tools that will shape the next century.
💡 WHY IT MATTERS: Just as past generations built railroads to connect people, grids to electrify them, and highways to move them — we now build data centers to think with them. This isn’t just about machines. It’s about momentum, leadership, and daring to imagine what’s next.
With gratitude,
Kev
