THE BIGGEST BLACK HOLE FLARE EVER — 10 TRILLION SUNS IN ONE BURST
A black hole just outshone entire galaxies. Astronomers have spotted the brightest flare ever recorded — a supermassive black hole, 10 billion light-years away, that briefly burned with the energy of 10 trillion suns.
—> 🌌 WHAT HAPPENED: About 8 billion years ago, a massive star made the ultimate wrong turn — drifting too close to the edge of a cosmic abyss. In seconds, it was shredded by gravity so intense that not even light could escape. That violent meal triggered a flare so powerful it traveled across time and space, only reaching Earth now. The Palomar Observatory in California first caught it in 2018, and scientists have been tracking its slow fade ever since.
