🚀🪐 JUNO’S LAST MISSION: CHASING A VISITOR FROM ANOTHER STAR. NASA’s Juno spacecraft was supposed to crash into Jupiter next year. But now, scientists have a wild idea — send it after 3I/ATLAS, a giant space rock from another star system, before it disappears forever into deep space.

—> 💡 HOW IT WOULD WORK: 3I/ATLAS is racing through our solar system at 134,000 miles per hour. In March 2026, it’ll pass about 33 million miles from Jupiter. If Juno fires its engines at just the right moment in September 2025, it could dive close to Jupiter, use the planet’s gravity like a giant slingshot (called an Oberth Maneuver), and rocket toward the interstellar comet.

With just 240 pounds of fuel — about the weight of two adults — Juno could get close enough to take the first-ever up-close pictures and readings of an object from another star.

🛰 WHY THIS IS CRAZY COOL:
— Juno was never built to chase comets.
— No one’s ever tried an interstellar intercept before.
— This thing could be older than our Sun… or maybe even a piece of alien tech (some scientists are letting their imaginations run).

🌌 THE SCI-FI TWIST: The comet’s closest pass to the Sun will be on the opposite side from Earth — almost like it doesn’t want to be seen. Cue the space-mystery music.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING: NASA would have to decide fast. Every day we wait, the comet’s path changes as it heats up. But if they say yes, Juno could go from a planned crash… to a Hollywood-style deep-space chase scene.

The decision: The trade-off looks like this:

  • Stay on Jupiter path: Keep collecting data on Jupiter’s atmosphere, magnetosphere, and moons until the spacecraft dives into the planet in September 2025. This was always the plan.

  • Switch to 3I/ATLAS pursuit: Use Juno’s last fuel to fire its engines, break orbit, and head toward the interstellar comet. That means no more close-up Jupiter science — but we’d get humanity’s first near encounter with an object from another star system.

🍹📉 AMERICANS ARE DRINKING LESS THAN EVER. A new Gallup poll finds only 54% of U.S. adults now say they drink alcohol — the lowest rate since Gallup started tracking in 1939 — and 53% now believe even moderate drinking is bad for your health, a record high.

—> WHAT HAPPENED: In just one year, drinking rates fell 8 points from 62% in 2023 to 54% today, with the steepest drops among women (down 11 points to 51%), young adults (down 9 points to 50%), and Republicans (down 19 points to 46%). Non-Hispanic White adults fell 11 points, while people of color stayed steady around 50%.

—> WHY THIS MATTERS: Among those who still drink, habits are changing fast. Only 24% had a drink in the past 24 hours (a record low), 40% haven’t had one in over a week (a record high since 2000), and average weekly drinks dropped to 2.8 — the lowest since 1996. Beer remains the top pick (especially for men at 52%), wine leads among women (44%), and liquor is about even across genders.

—> WHY YOU CARE: After decades of steady drinking rates, the sharp decline — paired with growing health concerns — could mark the start of alcohol’s long fade, much like cigarettes after the 1960s. A sober-curious generation is reshaping America’s social habits in real time.

🤖🏗️ 200 ROBOTS BUILD EXCAVATORS, NO HUMANS NEEDED. Guozi Robotics has set up almost 200 robots to build excavators from start to finish at a new factory in China — with no people on the assembly line.

US VS. CHINA: THE ROBOT RACE: China is racing ahead in factory robots, using them to speed up production and lower costs. The U.S. is working on its own advanced robot systems, but big projects like this show how fast China is moving in the global robotics competition.

—> WHAT HAPPENED: Guozi’s robots can lift heavy parts, move them with centimeter-level precision, and keep working all day and night without stopping. They also run the factory’s storage and delivery systems, making sure every part gets where it needs to go.
